Magnesia carbon bricks are made of fused (or sintered) magnesia and graphite as main raw materials, added with an appropriate amount of antioxidants, and phenolic resin as a binder to prepare mud. It is produced by mixing, forming and heat treatment.
Features of magnesia carbon brick:
(1) Good high temperature resistance;
(2) High slag resistance. Carbon materials are difficult to be wetted by slag, molten steel, and have high fire resistance and alkaline properties.
(3) Good thermal shock resistance. The thermal conductivity of graphite at 1000°C is 229W/m*k, and the thermal conductivity of MgO at 1000°C is 24.08W/m*k. The mechanical strength of graphite increases with temperature;
(4) Low high temperature creep.
Magnesia carbon bricks are mainly used for linings of converters, AC electric arc furnaces, DC electric arc furnaces, and slag lines of ladle. Steelmaking alkaline open hearth, electric furnace bottom and wall, oxygen converter lining, non-ferrous metal smelting furnace, high temperature tunnel kiln, calcined magnesia brick and cement rotary kiln lining, furnace bottom and wall of heating furnace, glass kiln heat storage Checkered bricks etc.
